Today we will discuss On-page optimization. As you know Google is automated software that scans the web with the help of their computer code.
If you see this in a different perspective then you will notice the Google algorithm is all about the common sense that anyone can understand.
So when you are implementing the SEO strategies on your website make sure you are not complicating the things. Keep everything simple and you will see that anyone can rank any website in Google search.
On-page optimization is the technique to make your website easy to read for search engine crawlers. If we talk about the Google crawler, the crawler visits the website through a direct web search and from third party website links. When the crawler is crawling your website they tend to read your HTML tags. HTML tags are basic building blocks of the web design. Each tag in the HTML has some purpose to it. For instance, the H Tags are specially designed for the heading of the page or content. You can’t use H tag to the paragraph.
Your H tag is a representation of your page content. The keywords in the H tag will be recognized as an indicator of the overall page content. Google crawler reads your H tag and tries to understand the content of your page. The wrong input in the H tag will result in the low ranking in Google search. It impacts to your organic ranking as well as your Adwords ranking. Your page score will be lowest compared to your competition websites. Work on your H tags carefully.
H Tag Suggestion:
– Use your targeted keyword in the beginning of the H1 Tag.
– You can use up to 6 H tags on one page, but I would suggest using only two H tags e.g. H1 & H2.
<h1>Your h1 tag with targeted keyword</h1>
<h2>Your h2 tag with targeted keyword</h2>
– Add primary keyword in the H1 Tag which represents your page and Synonyms or closely related keyword in the H2 Tag.
While working on the client website I have seen mistakes done by the Developer while coding the website. They try to use the shortcut by adding H tag everywhere on the page. So when you are doing on-page of your website make sure you are informing your developer to remove unwanted H tags from the page and keep only two H tags which will be H1 and H2.
So now you know how to use H tags. Go and check the website that you are optimizing for possible on-page errors and fix them. After you are done with the changes do not forget to submit the page URL to “fetch as google” in the Google webmaster. The tool allows you to crawl website and index the updated page immediately.
